Technical Sales Representative



A technical sales representative combines technical knowledge with sales skills. The work various depending on the level of technical knowledge and understanding needed to sell competently a product or service offered and respond effectively to customers or clients.

Duties:

  • Assess clients' needs and recommend the appropriate goods or services to promote sales
  • Develop reports and proposals, prepare sales presentations and administer contracts
  • Estimate costs of installing and maintaining equipment or service
  • Consult with clients after sale to resolve problems and to provide ongoing support
  • May train customers' staff in the operation and maintenance of equipment

Program Description:

In the Civil/Construction Engineering Technology program you gain an education in civil engineering theory, combined with practical work in laboratories and in the field.  You become familiar with the structural properties of timber, steel, masonry and concrete and study the design of roads, buildings, structures water distribution and sewage and drainage systems. Technical communications is covered in this course.
