Health and Safety Coordinator



Health and Safety Representatives help develop, maintain and implement health and safety policies, ensuring they are updated and current with legislation. They evaluate and monitor health and safety hazards and develop strategies to control risks in the workplace. They ensure staff receive training and handle any accidents.

Duties:

  • Carry out Health and Safety audits and inspections required to cover all work activities
  • Conduct training courses following procedures and formats that meet regulations
  • Inspects workplace to ensure all equipment, materails and product processes do not present a safety issue
  • Investigate accidents as required
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of new legislation on Health and Safety Matters

Education:

    Some Secondary School education is required

  • A working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation
  • A member of the Certified Registered Safety Professional
  • A diploma in Occupation Health and Safety or related discipline at a community college
  • Experience in construction

Program Description

Site safety and Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations related to the legal responsibilities of first-line site supervisors. The Construction Site Safety course, you learn to pursue project goals safely by examining different approaches to the supervisor’s essential task of getting work done through others and a health and safety program.
